Calypso’s Corner

CC Postcard

When a young woman looks to connect with her extended family she finds a surprising history, a deep connection, and the healing power of sharing our stories.

Meet the playwright,  cast and creative team HERE.

We have some wonderful Pre-Show speakers lined up for our May 7 and 14 performances.

Calypso’s Corner is humorous, hopeful and inspiring – but also deals with some serious issues.  We’ve lined up some amazing speakers to delve a bit into some of the topics addressed in the play.  The talks will begin half an hour before curtain, and last appx. 20 minutes.  There will be a break between the talk and the show for you to use the bathroom, get refreshments, etc.  Our speakers will also join us for the post show discussion to be able to address further questions and discuss how their area of expertise relates to the play.

Saturday, May 7 (8pm show, speaker at 7:30)

Tamra Marinello

Tami is a Peer Support Group Leader with FORCE (Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered – facingourrisk.org) and will share facts and stories about people with the BRCA gene mutation and share resources for fighting hereditary breast and ovarian cancer.

Saturday, May 14 (8pm show, speaker at 7:30)

Heather Durling

Heather is the founder of the Phoenix Gathering, “The place to Empower, Inspire & Strengthen Adult Survivors of Child Abuse” (thephoenixgathering.com).  The play features characters who deal with their past history of abuse in different ways.  Heather will talk a bit about her own experience and how survivors can get support and “Be who you were MEANT to be, and not who you were told to be!” THIS TALK IS RECOMMENDED FOR MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY.
